His 35-yard TD pass to Bill Frisbie on a reverse clinched the victory over Sidwell Friends, solidified Potomac School's No. 1 state ranking, and kept the 6-1 Panthers in line to better last year's school-record 7-2 season.
"We do whatever we can to get Dwaune the ball," said Lee. "The kids understand he's a great talent and we have to get him the ball." Opposing coaches understand it, too, but have had little success keeping the ball away from the 6-foot-1, 160-pound wide receiver and defensive back.
Jones the wide receiver is routinely double-teamed and bumped on slant-in routes, but he compensates with a 32 inch vertical jump, 4.5 40 speed and soft hands that enable him to catch passes in traffic and out run pursuit. "We don't like to throw into coverage, but sometimes we tell our quarterback to throw it out there and let him get it," said Lee. "As long as it's up there he'll bring it down." Jones has 89 Career receptions for 1,434 yards and four 2-point conversions.
