A study funded by a grant from Upjohn, maker of minoxidil, a drug that stimulates hair growth, and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (1993), " severely bald men under 55 years old were found to be three times more likely to suffer heart attacks than similarly aged men with full heads of hair." The Honorable John T. Capps 111 of Morehead City, one of the most famous bald headed men in Carteret County, and president of Bald Headed Men of America, say "We're not going to lose any hair over it."

Another opinion by the Hononable John T. Capps 111, the founder of Baldheaded Men of America, a self-help group in Morehead City, N. C. When asked about the report, Mr. Capps assured a caller that "baldheaded men don't use their hormones to grow hair." Rather, "they use them for more important things." Accordingly, "we're more active," he said, "and that may be the reason why we have more heart attacks.
