Jimmy Nolen
Born James Berkley Nolen on Sept. 15, 1939 in Beaufort NC. He
was educated in the Carteret County School system where he attended Queen
St. High in Beaufort. He was very talented in sports especially football.
In almost every game he was astounding with his quickness and intelligence
as he brought the home team to victory. He was celebtated weekly because
of his great feats on the football field. He graduated from high school
with honors. Later on in life, he married the lovely Mary Willoughby and
they had two wonderful children Derria and James Jr.. He was employed at
Cherry Point Air Station for 30 years. When both children were out of
college and and gainfully employed, he retired from Cherry Point where he
held the title of E&E. Most of his adult life he has been a member of Hero
Lodge #248.He is past Worshipful Master, and he also served as Patron of
the Order of the Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter #255. He is a most faithful
member of his Masonic organization and is deeply committed to it. He is a
member of Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as a member of
the trustee board. He is a member of the 4Th Wed. Haircut Club. and a
member of the 2nd Tue. Luncheon Club. He has just recently joined himself
to the membership of the Leon Mann Enrichment Center.(The senior Citizens
Club). He enjoys his easy laid-back lifestyle. He enjoys his
grandchildren, of which he has four. Dana, (the only grandaughter), Dreu,
James and Jonathan. He has one foster grandson, Andre Jones, with whom he
spends quite a bit of time. He and Mary have just celebrated their 41st
wedding anniversary. His motto is: "The Lord is My Shepherd" He is much
loved by his family and friends who enjoy being in his presence whenever he
comes around. He has reached a point in his life where he wants his life
to "be a sermon".
