This year's recipient of the RSVP Volunteer of the Year Award was Mrs. Jetnella Parker. She has regularly served more than 150 volunteer hours per month giving of her time, talent, skills and love, serving as a mentor to teenage mothers. She gives these young women a chance to gain confidence and self esteem and develop an interest in improving themselves and their way of life. She was also instrumental in getting the CHAMPS program CHAMPS=(CARTERET HELPING ADOLESCENTS MAKE POSITIVE STARTS) as an RSVP workstation. In addition she is the epitome of a telefriend checking on shut-ins, those who need help with some special chore, and those who simply need a friend to talk to. She actively voltuneers at her church, as well as being a grandmother to whomever is in need.
